# Storage engine rejected

`CREATE TABLE` or the import of a dump fails with an error about the storage engine or strict replication mode.

## Why it happens

Only InnoDB tables are replicated between the servers of a cluster. Scuttle refuses MyISAM, Aria and MEMORY tables instead of creating a table that would exist on one server only and vanish on failover.

## Fix

Change the engine in the source database before dumping, or rewrite the dump:

```bash
sed -E 's/ENGINE=(MyISAM|Aria|MEMORY)/ENGINE=InnoDB/g' dump.sql > dump-innodb.sql
```

MyISAM full-text indexes work on InnoDB as well. While you are at it, make sure every table has a primary key — see [Limitations](/docs/scuttle/concepts/limitations).
