Storage engine rejected

CREATE TABLE or the import of a dump fails with an error about the storage engine or strict replication mode.

Why it happens#

Only InnoDB tables are replicated between the servers of a cluster. Scuttle refuses MyISAM, Aria and MEMORY tables instead of creating a table that would exist on one server only and vanish on failover.

Fix#

Change the engine in the source database before dumping, or rewrite the dump:

bash
1
sed -E 's/ENGINE=(MyISAM|Aria|MEMORY)/ENGINE=InnoDB/g' dump.sql > dump-innodb.sql

MyISAM full-text indexes work on InnoDB as well. While you are at it, make sure every table has a primary key — see Limitations.
