Mobile apps
ScaiDrive has native apps for iOS (16.0+) and Android (8.0+). Both let you browse shares, upload from your camera roll, keep files available offline, and act as a file source for other apps on the device.
Installing#
- iOS — App Store, search "ScaiDrive". Open the app, tap Sign in, and enter your organization's ScaiDrive server URL when prompted.
- Android — Google Play, search "ScaiDrive". Same flow.
Sign-in opens a system browser to complete SSO; the app receives the token and stores it in the secure keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android).
Browsing#
The shares list is the home screen. Tap a share to navigate its folders. Pull down to refresh.
Tap a file to preview it. Most formats render natively (PDF, images, video, Office docs); files that can't be previewed show as "Open with…" and hand off to another app.
Offline access#
Long-press a file → Make available offline to download and pin it. Pinned files appear in the Offline tab regardless of whether you have network, and re-sync automatically when content on the server changes.
To unpin: long-press → Remove from offline. The local copy is deleted but the file stays on the server.
Camera upload#
In Settings → Camera upload:
- Pick the destination share and folder.
- Choose Photos only, Videos only, or Both.
- Pick Wi-Fi only if you're on a metered plan.
The app uploads new camera-roll items in the background. On iOS this uses background-task scheduling; on Android, WorkManager. Upload status is in Settings → Activity.
Share from other apps#
Both apps register as a share target:
- iOS — tap Share in any app, pick ScaiDrive, choose a destination, Upload.
- Android — same flow via the system share sheet.
Useful for sending an email attachment or a screenshot straight into a share without leaving the source app.
Files / DocumentsProvider#
ScaiDrive registers as a system file source so the OS's own Files app (iOS) or any file picker (Android, via DocumentsProvider) can browse your shares directly. Pick a file from ScaiDrive when attaching to email, opening in an editor, or saving from another app.
Signing out#
Settings → Sign out. Cached offline files are deleted; the next sign-in re-downloads what you pin again.
What's next#
- Web client — full functionality from any browser.
- Sharing with your team.
