Manage your availability

ScaiWave lets you signal whether you want to be reached, when, and how loudly. There are five knobs.

1. Presence#

The dot on your avatar. Click your profile button (bottom-left) → presence picker:

  • 🟢 Online — at your keyboard.
  • 🟡 Idle — signed in but not active. Auto-set after 5 min without DOM events.
  • 🔴 Busy — "please don't ping me unless urgent." Sticky until you change it.
  • ⚪ Appear offline — show as offline to most people. Sticky.

Pick Switch to auto-detect to go back to automatic online/idle/offline based on activity.

2. Per-room notification mode#

The 🔔 menu in the chat header:

  • All messages — every send pings you.
  • Mentions only (default) — @you and keyword alerts.
  • None — silent. Room still updates; you just don't get pings.
  • Inherit global default — uses your account-wide default (under Settings → Notifications).

3. Mute (timed)#

Same menu → Mute → pick a duration: 1h, 4h, 8h, until tomorrow morning, until next week, or a custom expiry. The room shows a 🔕 indicator until the mute auto-clears.

4. Quiet hours#

Settings → Notifications → Quiet hours. Set a daily window (e.g. 22:00–07:00 in your timezone). During quiet hours:

  • No desktop notifications.
  • No sound.
  • Messages still arrive; you'll see them when you check.

5. Snooze a single message#

Hover any message → menu → Snooze. Pick 1h, 4h, tomorrow, or custom. At the snooze time, the message re-fires as a fresh notification.

Use this when you can't deal with something now but don't want it to fall off your radar.

Keyword alerts#

Settings → Notifications → Keyword alerts. Add phrases. When a phrase matches in any room (case-insensitive, word-boundary), you're notified even on mentions or none.

Examples: your team name, project codename, "incident", anything you must not miss.

Priority inbox#

Sidebar → Priority inbox. An AI scans the rooms you've muted or backgrounded and surfaces things it thinks you should see anyway: direct mentions, questions to you, keyword matches, messages tagged priority by senders. A safety net for "I muted that room and now something important is buried in it".

Cross-device#

Everything above syncs across all your devices. Mute on your phone → desktop is also muted. Read a message on your laptop → the unread counter clears on your phone too.
